Family Restaurant Port Huron

This past weekend Diane and I- along with Diane's sister Kathie Denomy and her husband Jim; spent the weekend in PortHuron . One may call it a mini holiday'' After a early breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe We had stops at the local Meijers store-Walmart-then finally at the Birchwood Mall. Jim and I then sent the Ladies off shopping. At which point we then retired to 'the above said' for some 'liquid refreshment' Upon sitting at the bar' I quickly noticed the beer selections were all limited to Lite Beers I have never drank a Lite Beer in my entire life'''' Add to this there was smoking allowed in the Lounge area' I am an ardent non smoker-No smoking in the food court or in the Mall itself . Yet in this restaurant your free to light up? If your ever in the Birchwood Mall-Take a moment and look past the Family Restaurant'' Mark Duncan

  1. TOTALLY WITH YOU ON THE SMOKING COMMENT! When we first started travelling regularly to New York State around 8 years ago all you could find was Bud and Bud Lite. Even now if you ask for a local beer they'll suggest a Samuel Adams (which is from Boston-2 hrs away and in another state!) Since living in Connecticut for 1.5 yrs we've located a few more interesting beer-Trail Head from Vermont and a nice beer from Brooklyn-still nothing from Connecticut! Beer of choice for many still seems to be Bud Lite! When visiting friends they like to supply us with Canadian Beer, which is nice of them. They all have stories of being in college and going over the border to drink Canadian beer in either Ontario or Quebec. Big deal when you're only 18 or 19 and the drinking age in the states is 21. Cheers! Ann
