There's a small side trip for anyone from London, Ontario take a little detour to Ilderton My sweatheart, Diane, and I travelling south from Goderich. If you turn off at Clandeboye, go south several crossroads- t junction head east 1 mile, you will find Ilderton. Up in the town centre The Eddie is on the right it appears like it was an old general store. Diane led the way into the old world ambience. The beer selection is the best in this area. A choice of dark beers, lagers and ales can be had. I'd like to add that the beer is cold. There's a great British menu - everything from 'bangers and mash' to 'fish and chips'. I, having lived in Britain for over 10 years, sure appreciated the fare (not to mention the pints!) So, if you are feeling a desire to experience a nice English
pub and you find yourself near the Canadian London instead of the "real" one......stop in to
the King Edward Pub in Ilderton and enjoy!

Very nice description of the King Edward Inn, Marco!! It really is a very quaint little pub - certainly not a 'bar', but a pub in the English tradition. I have never visited the "real London", but since I happen to live in London, Ontario - this is a nice, easy destination. I especially like that it does not have loud 'techno' music playing, and it is not wall-to-wall university/college students. It is just a cozy little place to enjoy a pint, some tasty comestibles, and a bit of quiet conversation. There's even a lovely little fireplace in the back, so you can warm up both your belly and your bones on these cold winter nights.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the appealing post!!
