Heidelberg Inn, Ontario

Welcome to the Heidelberg Inn near Kitchener, Ontario. It is a little gem of a brew pub, tucked away in the Mennonite country in Waterloo County. This remarkable little inn features an exceptional microbrewery. There is lots and lots of warm, cozy, old-world appeal - one of the last sorts of brew pubs in this area. The food is old world as well. Think "Germany" and you'll be able to anticipate the menu. Let me tell you this - "Pigs tails and sourkraut" are a big item here! They have live music on weekends and at other times it is a very quiet and cozy wee pub.

So, if you find yourself near Kitchener and want to relax for a bit and enjoy a bit of Germany, stop in to the Heidelberg Inn, enjoy a luscious pint of beer or ale, a bit of very hearty food, and just let the time roll by....

  1. Nice post, Marco! I really do enjoy the way you describe this pub! In such a few words you bring to mind exactly what to expect in the Heidleberg Inn. I was in the Heidelberg just once, many years ago, as my partner and I were travelling along the back roads, coming home to Goderich from Kitchener - and from a day at the St. Jacob's market, I think. Anyway, he convinced me that we must stop and it was, indeed, very quaint indeed. I seem to remember the dark, polished wood of the tables and chairs - they just radiated the warmth of all the souls who had previously enjoyed the hospitality there.

I can remember looking through the giant windows at the enormous beer vats - something I'd never seen before. So, that was really neat - enjoying a pint right on the premises where it was made.

I have to say, I gave the "pig tails" a wide berth, and - not surprisingly - didn't see a single mention of "vegetarian Bavarian sausages" on the menu!

Thanks, again, Marco! Keep up the good work.
